Smart city is a new theory and new model to promote the intelligentization of urban planning, construction, management and service by using the new generation of information integration technologies such as the Internet of Things, cloud computing, big data, and spatial geographic information integration.

From the perspective of technological development, smart city construction requires the realization of comprehensive perception, ubiquitous interconnection, ubiquitous computing and integrated applications through new-generation information technology applications such as the Internet of Things and cloud computing represented by mobile technology. From the perspective of social development, smart cities also require the realization of a knowledge society characterized by user innovation, open innovation, mass innovation, and collaborative innovation through the application of tools and methods such as social networks, micro-assembly labs, smart homes, and comprehensive integration methods. Sustainable innovation in the environment emphasizes the realization of comprehensive and sustainable development of economy, society and environment through value creation and people-oriented.

Depending on the type of sensor, the information can be analyzed in local data centers (edge data centers) or in city surveillance centers as part of video protection cameras. In addition to sensors, network infrastructure is becoming the backbone of innovation in the face of increasing amounts of data generated by sensors, thanks to fiber optics and 5G to meet varying technological expectations such as bit rate and latency.
