Smart city is a new theory and new model to promote the intelligentization of urban planning, construction, management and service by using the new generation of information integration technologies such as the Internet of Things, cloud computing, big data, and spatial geographic information integration.
From the perspective of technological development, smart city construction requires the realization of comprehensive perception, ubiquitous interconnection, ubiquitous computing and integrated applications through new-generation information technology applications such as the Internet of Things and cloud computing represented by mobile technology. From the perspective of social development, smart cities also require the realization of a knowledge society characterized by user innovation, open innovation, mass innovation, and collaborative innovation through the application of tools and methods such as social networks, micro-assembly labs, smart homes, and comprehensive integration methods. Sustainable innovation in the environment emphasizes the realization of comprehensive and sustainable development of economy, society and environment through value creation and people-oriented.
Two key factors in the construction of smart cities: one is the new generation of information technology represented by the Internet of Things, cloud computing, and mobile Internet, which are technical factors at the level of technological innovation; Innovation 2.0) is a socio-economic factor at the level of social innovation.
One of the pillars of a smart city involves the collection of information: it can be linked to sensors (pollution, humidity, temperature), connected objects or the Internet of Things (IoT) (connected locks) or through cameras (traffic management, city video surveillance). Overall, this will generate a lot of data that will be managed locally for latency. Depending on the type of sensor, the information can be analyzed in local data centers (edge data centers) or in city surveillance centers as part of video protection cameras. In addition to sensors, network infrastructure is becoming the backbone of innovation in the face of increasing amounts of data generated by sensors, thanks to fiber optics and 5G to meet varying technological expectations such as bit rate and latency.
